Techno is a form of electronic dance music that emerged in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States during the mid-to-late 1980s. The first recorded use of the word techno in reference to a specific genre of music was in 1988. Many styles of techno now exist, but Detroit techno is seen as the foundation upon which a number of sub-genres have been built.

A really weird celebration of what was called "Toytown Techno" by the press back in the Rave days.So you've got a good selection of the sampletastic chart fodder (Sesame's Treet, Roobarb & Custard, Blockbuster, Summer's Magic) as well as others that didn't exactly sample blatant themes yet still had that formula (A Juicy Red Apple, Take Me Away, JR Hartley*).All that's missing is Trip To Trumpton & Charly (though I doubt XL were up for licensing it without blowing the budget).Oh, and you're also presented with the absolute dregs (Supermarioland, Tetris & Thunderbirds Are Go). They could have included included Mr. Blobby but he was still but a glint in Noel's flannel trousers.Fuck this shit yeah? Wait. You also get the incredible "No Idea" from the legendary Earth Leakage Trip. GTO's Bull Frog is pretty tasty too.I wouldn't pay too much attention to this compilation for obvious reasons, but truth is you are able to have a clean, digital, uncompressed copy of No Idea. And trust me, that's pretty hard to find.*Ok I know JR Hartley will be pretty blatant to anyone in the UK over the age of 35
