Science Fiction is the debut solo studio album by English singer Tom Bailey, best known as the lead singer of pop band Thompson Twins. It was released on 13 July 2018.
Tom Bailey, co-founding member of new wave pioneers the Thompson Twins, has announced his first-ever solo album and his first new music altogether in some 25 years. Entitled Science Fiction, the 10-track LP is due to arrive on July 13th. Bailey produced the album himself with assistance from Hal Ritson (Chemical Brothers, David Guetta). Recording took place in London, France, and New Zealand. Bailey previously released the album’s closing track, Come So Far, as its lead single. Watch the song’s accompanying music video below. Although Tom Bailey was the lead singer, songwriter and, from Here’s To Future Days onwards, the Thompson Twins’ producer, he never actually got around to releasing an album under his own name. But there have been a few solo projects over the years, many of them soundtrack-based. In 1982, he released – as a bonus 7 with the Thompson Twins’ second album, Set – a 7 of his deep, dark electro soundtrack for an indie arthouse film called Weather Station.
