Birds Build Nests Underground is a Prague-based trio working in the fields of found sound and vision. Their basic tools is a double DJ set and 8mm, 16mm, 35mm and KP8 film and slide projectors. Their goal is, however, not a standard DJ/VJ entertainment muzak and screensaving but a deep dive into the very nature of sound and image.

Though many birds build nests on top of tree branches or on ledges, other species attach their nests to walls or build them in a hollow on the ground. Some species make holes in tree trunks and build their nests inside. Some species even hang their nests from tree. These nests hang on the underside of the fork of two or more small tree branches. The sides and back of the nest attach to the branches with spider webs or small grasses.

Firstly, not all birds build nests. Some species, for example auk species like the Razorbill lay eggs directly on the narrow ledges they use as nesting sites. All flightless species, obviously, nest on the ground. Among them, King and Emperor Penguins do not build nests build nests on ground. Some birds build their nests in more protected places, such as high in trees or in dense foliage. Other birds build their nests on the leaf-covered forest floor or just above the ground in low plants. For example, the ovenbird builds a nest shaped like a Dutch oven. It is built of dried grass, leaves, moss, other plant matter, and hair. The nest is well camouflaged with leaves, branches, and other litter placed on the roof. The entrance is a small slit on the side of the nest. Many birds nest in cavities. The cavities are either constructed or natural.
