Joseph Abraham "Joe" Houston (July 12, 1926 – December 28, 2015) was an American rhythm & blues tenor saxophonist. He was born in Bastrop, a suburb of Austin, Texas, and studied trumpet in school, changing to saxophone later. One night in 1941 a saxophone player did not show for a gig with the band and Houston took his place. Between 1943 and 1946, Houston toured with King Kolax's band through Kansas City and Chicago and throughout the Mid-West.

What a combination, Collins bringing his blues and Walsh stepping back admiring and then tearing it up together is great. First time I have given Etta a true listen and man is she powerful. She ties it all together and can she wail.

Label: BGP. The R&B sax work of Houston was heard in many places and on many labels. He began his work during the jump blues period but he quickly found his way in rock & roll. Houston was nothing if not versatile. When Houston emerged upon the Mercury label, he even found time to create a hit all of his own, a R&B flavoured piece called Worry, Worry, Worry, in 1952.
