I had heard of Manhattan Transfer before, but something in the name just stopped from looking for the album, until I head that selection on the radio. I had to hear the tune again. I found the album, and immediately purchased it at Sam Goody's music store. Ultimately, in my move from California to Florida, I lost most of my CD's int he move. I repurchased the CD recently, and it's a wonderful album. The combination of bee-bop, jazz, blues, and torch singing is absolutely hypnotizing. The group covers an eclectic style of music.

The album was released on April 2, 1975 and debuted on Billboard’s Top Pop Album charts on May 3, 1975 and eventually went to based partially on the strength of the single Operator which went to on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. The album was received well abroad, as Tuxedo Junction: went to on the British pop charts. Their intro number, ‘Tuxedo Junction,’ is a precise recreation of the 1940 Glenn Miller oldie, with the group’s four part vocal harmonies and jazz riffs supplanting the Miller instrumentals.

The Manhattan Transfer (album). The Manhattan Transfer. Studio album by The Manhattan Transfer. Vocally, The Manhattan Transfer is one of the slickest group's on today's market. Their intro number, "Tuxedo Junction", is a precise recreation of the 1940 Glenn Miller oldie, with the group's four part vocal harmonies and jazz riffs supplanting the Miller instrumentals. They have done their homework; they have studied their old 78s in detail. In the honors section, "Blue Champagne", a Dorsey beauty, and "Candy" evoke all of the magic and hazy charm of the 30's and 40's.
