The 2nd album from SE is something like the first day after the summer solstice: it is still summer, but you sense that the days are already getting shorter. With bursts of power and moments of exuberance, the musical styles appear in skewed-randomness like country-blues and skronky rock viewed through a broken pane of glass. Like they say, it doesn’t pay to be satisfied.

The first collection of Sudden Ensemble material, titled ". 11", was compiled and issued by art music impresario Gerhard Potuznik for his label Angelika Koehlermann. The recordings were transferred via Tascam 4-Track and displayed a fractured, scuzz rock minimalism. The inner jacket aptly described the group and it's approach (lovingly transgressive spontaneous composition). Despite the pseudo-street style and air of bravado in the vocal delivery, the themes and overall feel of the disc betray a deep-wounded sense of melancholy which adds a certain gravitas to the collection.

The Al Firdaus Ensemble are returning to the studio to record their second album. My name is Ali Keeler and I lead the Al Firdaus Ensemble which was founded in 2012 in the beautiful Andalusian city of Granada. Al Firdaus is an Arabic/Persian word meaning an enclosed garden where a rich variety of plants and flowers flourish together. The members of the group with their different cultural and musical backgrounds contribute to producing the unique sound of Al Firdaus, a synthesis of musical traditions, Western Classical, Celtic, Arabic, Andalusi, and Flamenco
