Vulnicura is the ninth studio album by Icelandic musician and singer Björk. It was produced by Björk, Arca, and The Haxan Cloak, and released on 20 January 2015 by One Little Indian Records Vulnicura was originally scheduled for release in March 2015, in conjunction with the Björk: Archives book and an exhibition about Björk's career at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Vulnicura is the eighth studio album by Björk. The album was supposed to be released in March 2015 but due to a leak, Björk and her team decided to release it on January 20th, 2015. The album was written in 2013, the year Björk and her partner Matthew Barney broke-up and it documents the progressive deterioration of the relationship and the subsequent overcoming of her pain. These two phases are symbolised by the wound and the healing of the wound.
Vulnicura Strings (The Acoustic Versions – Strings, Voice and Viola Organista Only), or simply Vulnicura Strings, is an acoustic album released by Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk as a companion to her 2015 album, Vulnicura. Vulnicura Strings has been described as a more uncompromising and intimate take on Björk's breakup album, featuring strings-only versions of the Vulnicura tracks, with the omission of "History of Touches". Also the version of "Family" omits the vocals.
Vulnicura may be the most personal, emotive and heartbreaking album which Björk has ever made. After the exploration of universe and nature with the previous project Biophilia, the icelandic deity focuses all of her forces around the feelings of her own heart, giving us an abstract journey through deep love, the desperate sorrow in losing it, and maybe, the hope of a new beginning. How will I sing us/Out of this sorrow?" For me, this album is tied with Homogenic for the best Björk album.
Rush-released after an internet leak, the new LP by Iceland’s greatest export is a break-up album like no other. By Brent DiCrescenzo Posted: Wednesday January 21 2015. Before making ‘Vulnicura’, Björk had two things removed from her: a throat polyp and a domestic partner, American artist Matthew Barney. Her ninth record, then, is the obligatory break-up album, one sung with extraordinarily renewed power.
Redirected from Quicksand (Björk song)). Vulnicura is the eighth studio album by Icelandic musician and singer Björk. It was produced by Björk, Arca and The Haxan Cloak, and released on 20 January 2015 by One Little Indian Records. Björk said the album expresses her feelings before and after her breakup with American contemporary artist Matthew Barney and the healing process.
It's an era in which you could try your hardest to make a classic, the next Thriller, say, and maybe you could even come close
Vulnicura is Björk's ninth studio album-assuming you include her 2000 Dancer in the Dark soundtrack Selmasongs (which you, of course, do) and not her 1977 self-titled child album (which you, of course, don't)-and features production from Arca and engineering from The Haxan Cloak, alongside Björk herself. The album is essentially broken into chapters: the bitter end, the breakup and the first steps forward. Its very name, Vulnicura, melds the Latin vulnero and cura: the wound and the cure-and captures everything between the two.
