Buzz is the third studio album by British pop group Steps, released on 25 October 2000. It reached number four on the UK Albums Chart. The album saw the group edging away from the PWL sound to a more mature sound, working with producers from Sweden and songwriters such as Cyndi Lauper. This more mature sound was also echoed in the new material from Gold: Greatest Hits. Each of the five group members co-wrote a track on the album, each in turn had a chance to have lead vocals in one whole track.
Steps' singles success translated into album sales, with their debut album Step One entering the chart at number 2. It was certified 5x Platinum following a run of 50 weeks in the Top 20. The next single release was a double A-side which provided Steps with their signature song and biggest career seller. The third album Buzz followed shortly and whilst it was less successful than their first two albums, went on to achieve double platinum status and contains five UK Top 5 singles. The group worked with many American and Swedish producers who had created hits for other Jive artists such as Britney Spears, 'N Sync, and the Backstreet Boys.

Steps are a British dance-pop group consisting of Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and Ian "H" Watkins. Steps were formed in May 1997 by Tim Byrne, Barry Upton and Stev. Stream Tracks and Playlists from STEPSbuzz on your desktop or mobile device.
Maybe it was merely a Steps overplay, between consistent singles and a new album each year, but it seemed like time for the group to embark on something new. Buzz avoids the pitfalls of repetition they had fallen into and, while it remains embedded in nostalgia for ABBA, the inspiration this time seems to derive from their own sound. They do in fact have their own sound, and it has revealed itself here, crystal clear.
