The "Savoy Havana Band" was an augmentation, created by American saxophonist Bert Ralton, of the "Savoy Quartet". The band was developed by Ralton in 1921, hired by the management of London's Savoy Hotel to catch the popular mood of the ever-growing dance band movement that would exist between the two world wars. The Savoy Hotel is in The Strand, London, UK. The band performed between 1921 and 1927 and became a 'moveable feast' of musicians between the hotel's resident bands, the "Savoy Orpheans" and "The Sylvians", by 1927

The Savoy Havana Band was a British dance band of the 1920s. It was resident at the Savoy Hotel, London, between 1921 and 1927. The band was formed by the American saxophonist Bert Ralton in 1921. Originally there were six players including Ralton. It was later increased to ten players. From 1924 it was led by the English violinist Reginald Batten. Both the Savoy Havana Band and their colleagues the Savoy Orpheans were under the management of Wilfred de Mornys.

Savoy Havana Band (18 February 1927: UK issue HMV B 5231) SONG OF LOVE Savoy Orpheans (6 October 1926: UK issue HMV B 5143) DISCO GRAMMOFONO (Italy) R 4801. OH MARIE when issued on HMV was coupled with ‘Prove It’ which had a vocal trio of Rudy Bayfield Evans, Reg Batten and (probably) Abe Bronson. I’m sure Liszt would be much relieved not to be named on the Song Of Love label! However, the way the Orpheans deliver it is so very much of its time; and it's hard not to smile - syncopated Liszt. OH MARIE plays over 3 minutes and spirals nearer the centre.
