In other words, the division that we are used to today (country backwards but beautiful/city progressive but ugly) is not actually a permanent reality but a constructed reality of the dominant landowning class. The meanings of both have shifted to serve the dominant narratives most useful to the ruling class at the time. Why this seems particularly relevant to me in the Trump era is due to the exploitation of this division yet again by the Republicans and most shamefully by Trump. The Republicans have convinced rural populations that reality is black and white.
In the city where the colours run dry, Or in the country where the farmers grow rye. In the city where there are fees, Or in the country where beauty is free. In the city where there are loud crowds, Or in the country where you can watch clouds. In the city where you camp out in your room, Or in the country where you have fun dancing with a broom. In the city where you seal the deal, Or in the country where you can heal. In the city where you say later, Or in the country where you can see the water
Certainly, modern life in the city and the one in rural areas are connected with a great deal of differences. In my opinion, the nature of urban and rural life-styles and its effects on people is the most important difference between living in the city and living in the country. It is supposed that people who live in rural areas are calmer, more family-oriented, a little conservative and friendlier. Therefore, the people who live in today’s metropolises are generally busier, more career-oriented, focused and concerned about their own problems, more direct and broadminded.
In 2012, Les and his team were awarded The Heidrick & Struggles Global Craftsmanship Award, the firm’s highest honor for quality execution.
Those who like living in the city believe that it has a large number of advantages. First, the big offer of the options for spending free time. For instance people can visit various museums, cinemas, and libraries. Second, there are a lot of working places in the city. The biggest companies are located in the cities. Therefore, it is easier for people to find suitable job in a city. Also, people have more variants in choosing career. In opposite, persons who live in a country, don't have wide choice of shops
