Peggy and Ensemble: In the heart of little old New York, You'll find a thoroughfare. It's the part of little old New York That runs into Times Square. A crazy quilt that "Wall Street Jack" built, If you've got a little time to spare, I want to take you there. Broadway musical soundtrack lyrics.

Peggy Sawyer is fresh off the bus from Nowhere, USA but soon finds herself just another pair of legs in the chorus line of Broadway’s newest musical. When the star of the show is injured, Peggy is pushed into the spotlight to save the production. Will she be able to rise to the occasion? Will a new star be born? This show has all the glamour and sparkle of old Broadway and is guaranteed to dance its way into your heart
This would be impossible in a real theater. Step dancers concentrate on their feet only and upper body movement is not a consideration. This makes the dancer appear as heavy footed and clumsy. Plus she wasn't a very good actress and didn't sing very well either.

Helmed by Broadway director Mark Bramble, ‘42nd Street’ is as American as a McDonald’s apple pie, a steaming, golden spectacle of showbiz glamour. Fittingly, the plot’s strictly vanilla. The guys are putting on a show. Harry Warren and Al Dubin might not be the best-known musical theatre team on the block, but they light up ‘42nd Street’ with an electrifying hoard of hits. Think ‘We’re in the Money’ and ‘Lullaby of Broadway’ – although I could have done without retro-sexism fiesta ‘Keep Young and Beautiful (If You Want to be Loved)’ being shoehorned in there.
