Biography by James Christopher Monger. Led by vocalist Ellie Rowsell, this North London act mixes folk and electronic elements with vintage '90s indie rock.

Wolf Alice are a British four-piece alternative rock band from north London, England, formed initially as an acoustic duo in 2010. Its members since 2012 are Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitars, vocals), Theo Ellis (bass) and Joel Amey (drums, vocals). The band released their debut single, "Fluffy", in February 2013, and followed it with "Bros" in May of that year. They released their debut EP, Blush, in October, and its follow-up, Creature Songs, in May 2014

In some ways, Wolf Alice’s second album is an extension of their 2015 debut, ‘My Love Is Cool’. That excellent record was restless, too, flitting from hypnotic, electronic folk to teeth-baring rock. With ‘Visions Of A Life’ Wolf Alice are removing any doubt about their status in the UK music scene. Best band in Britain? 100 per cent.

Angela Carter's story about Wolf Alice describes the titular character as follows: "She never walks; she trots or gallops. Her pace is not our pace. The same can be said of Rowsell and her colleagues on My Love Is Cool. Subsequent tracks, "Bros", the slamming "Your Love’s Whore," You're A Germ" and "Lisbon" all aspire to hurricane force with punishing bass lines and ripping guitars. The abrasiveness of the band's identity blends with a brash insouciance. Everyone is welcome in the universe of Wolf Alice, provided certain conditions are met, and once you're running with the animals, their affection and common purpose will be obvious.
