BC ‎– Digital Nation (Album Sampler). Label: BC Recordings ‎– BCRUKLPS001. It is like "BC's trademark sound meets DSCI4 meets something even more dark and furious". It is not a liquid roller, and maybe it is not about how heavy, fast and dark tune this is; it is more like that fact that it's evil in its purest form. If you are a "typical" oldskool guy who's been here since day one (or just simply heard about BC), you won't really raise your eyebrows. But if you are a newbie when it comes to drum and bass, and/or you are delving in one of the finest pages of dnb history, I highly recommend this release.

Whilst never trying to fit a commercial paradigm and instead paying reverence to the roots of a genre which has become of dance music's biggest exports, Nymfo has yet again set the bar high across an entire album. From beginning to end, 'Pictures of Silence' is a homage to what Nymfo's expert skillset is capable of. This LP Sampler includes the Sampler Exclusive Track 'Butterfly Effect'. Pictures on Silence (DIGITAL ALBUM SAMPLER). Release Date 2019-04-12.

The Tumpa and Naz tracks sample Cuba Gooding's Happiness is just around the bend. I'd also like to know where Miami Flashback got the Miami sample from.

I guess I can't really add more. People tend to prefer Flashback (and its remixes/mashups) over Spacewalk, this is something that I actually understand because it was one big anthem around those days. But pay attention to Spacewalk as well, it really has that signature Bad Company vibe to it. I go with the flow most of the time, but this release could be an exception: it is all about side AA for me. It is like "BC's trademark sound meets DSCI4 meets something even more dark and furious". It is not a liquid roller, and maybe it is not about how heavy, fast and dark tune this is; it is more like that fact that it's evil in its purest form.If you are a "typical" oldskool guy who's been here since day one (or just simply heard about BC), you won't really raise your eyebrows. To me, this is one of the best Bad Company 12"s you can own. "Flashback" is a tearing anthem in the classic BC mode, an ideal combination of tramens and reese bass that holds up against any of BC's more well known tunes like "Torpedos", "Nitrous", or "Planet Dust". I recall an Ed Rush and Optical set I went to where they played this, completely unmixed as their final tune, such was its impact. On the flip is the under-rated "Spacewalk", a dark neuro tech stepper that was typical of the sound BC were pushing at the time. Sadly, the quality of this release was not continued in the album it acted as the sampler for, "Digital Nation", in my opinion. "Flashback" was remixed as "Miami Flashback" on BC's "Book of the Bad Vol 3", but for my ears the original is the preferred mix. The remix adds instrumentation (including a big intro), but lacks the punch of the original. This is essential BC at their best. Heavy release!

The combination of samples on "Flashback (Tumba)" worths the mentioning, for the Bad Company guys knew what they were doing: "I'm a reaal!" was taken from the House classic 'Frankie Knuckles & Satoshi Tomie - Tears' from 1989 on the opening lyrics by Robert Owens: "I'm a real... good actor!"; the other sample is a fine synth line taken from another classic from Frankie Knuckles: 'The Night Writers - Let The Music (Use You)' (1987), also used on the hardcore classic "DJs Take Control" by SL2.

Don`t forget the Bada da be sample, which is a chipmonked vocal sample of Cuba Gooding - Happiness Is Just Around The Bend (1983) that was used on Naz A.K.A. Naz - It`s Started Again (1992).

that info was so helpful! Been searching for the original synth line tune for ages. Have a copy of it on a dodgy bootleg but never knew what it was called. What, a, tune! Absolutely love it. Thanks
