Super dansable EBM track, both the A and B side. I especially love the B side. We went wild on the dancefloor in the eighties when we heard "hey poor!". Chickenskin and way ahead of its time.

This CD is gold surfaced, like many other of the early CDi style graphic CDs. Many PC/Mac players cannot even read this CD any longer due to technology and video players. Audio tracks play fine in any player. Tracks on this CD are exactly the same as the standard release but with the video of "Headhunter". The video itself is done on purpose to be very grainy as the director wanted it to be. Even if you have a copy from the Laserdisc, VHS releases (I have not seen a real DVD copy). Still looks the same.

CDV format was proposed in the mid-80s and is only compatible with laserdisc players bearing the "LD" logo and capable of playing back digital audio. This disc has never been CD-ROM compatible. The video is uncompressed analog. CDVs contained up to 5 minutes of video and 20 minutes of audio. All CDVs were gold plated, presumably for optimal quality and the prevention of oxidation more common to 12" laserdiscs, which were aluminum plated.

The real gem here is the flipside. F2 were always the masters of finding creepy religious, tv-preacher sounding samples and Welcome To Paradise (V1.0) is one their finest hours in this respect. Add to this a hard beat somewhat similar to Masterhit, this is one mean EBM track ranking with the best F2 stuff I know of. How it ended up as a B-side is a mystery.

Front 242's HEADHUNTER is a groundbreaking track for EBM and industrial music in general -- the first real worldwide industrial hit. But it happened to a completely deserving track -- immediately recognizable from the few notes and thoroughly danceable. "Welcome to Paradise" is more sample-based, but is a great send-up of American religious attitudes nonetheless. Sure, there's a lot of nostalgia wrapped up with this track, but if it came over the speaker of a club today, do you think I'd sit in my seat? I would not.

Headhunter is a great ebm/industrial song, with all the elements that made it a hit. However, the real hit from this 12" is it's B-Side. Not many people will recognize it's name, but they'll sure remember the key words: "No Sex Unltil Marriege!", and "Hey Poor! You Don't Have To Be Poor Anymore..." During the early 90's you can still hear samples from this track on many New-Beat and early Techno releases, Megamixes, and DJ sets. Behind the key-words, there's a brilliant work of Synthesizers, Samplers, and Sound. This one of the better releases by the 242 team. "Halleujah!"

Headhunter is the record that introduced me to ebm. It's a big classic and the naughty sound of the main theme inspired the coming new beat scene (for example Tragic error Tanzen).
