Kuršių nerija, the Curonian Spit, is a narrow strip of sand stretching 97 kilometres along the Baltic Sea in western Lithuania. According to the legend, the spit was formed a long time ago by Neringa, a girl giant who poured the sandy peninsula into the Baltic Sea to protect the peaceful bay from the stormy sea and create an embankment for fishermen to live.

The 7-member collective includes Nubya Garcia, Cassie Kinoshi and Shiela Maurice-Grey. Nérija are releasing their debut album, Blume, this August via Domino Recordings. The collective features Nubya Garcia on tenor saxophone, Sheila Maurice-Grey on trumpet, Cassie Kinoshi on alto saxophone, Rosie Turton on trombone, Shirley Tetteh on guitar, Lizy Exell on drums and Rio Kai on bass. Its 10 tracks were recorded at Soup Studios in London, and produced by Kwes aka Teo Macero.

London septet Nérija mark the release of their debut album Blume with an appearance at End of the Road Festival at Larmer Tree Gardens between 29 August–1 September. The collective consists of Nubya Garcia on tenor saxophone, Sheila Maurice-Grey on trumpet, Cassie Kinoshi on alto saxophone, Rosie Turton on trombone, Shirley Tetteh on guitar, Lizy Exell on drums and Rio Kai on bass.
