The album retains many of Grossi’s signatures: Cascading harps, both real and otherwise, are everywhere, while malleable, brassy synths and demure bass provide dream-pop flourishes. As always, the music is cyclical and moody, but largely ancillary to Grossi’s voice-a thick, bell-like soprano that easily shoulders melodic duties and is rightly at the center of attention. You Are All I See is, by and large, a beat-centric work, and is at its best when liberally borrowing from the minimalist drum-machine patterns of chart-friendly, pre-millenium R&B. In the purposeful Playing House (featuring fellow indie funk-pop architect How to Dress Well doing his best Justin Timberlake impression), listeners can hear the percussive tendencies. of artists like Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, and even Janet Jackson in the track’s thump-clap gait.

In 2011, Active Child opened British musician James Blake and for the French synthpop band M83. In 2012, his song, "Hanging On," was covered by English pop artist Ellie Goulding and later included on her second album, Halcyon. Grossi released his debut LP, You Are All I See in August 2011, featuring tracks such as Hanging On and Johnny Belinda. Drowned in Sound remarked, "You Are All I See is all about the shimmer, Grossi's touch is so deft, and the sound so seemingly in tune with the natural world, he somehow is able to play with light. By 2013, he released albums and EPs for labels including Vagrant, Spunk, Plancha and others. Several of his tracks have appeared on compilations and in multiple films including Divergent and The Host.

Active Child have said that their album is an attempt to build a bridge between the listener and the band. Quite frankly, they’ve done an awesome job of doing just that. It’s hard to pick a favourite from the track list but if you put a gun to my head, I’d have to say that ‘Hanging On’ is a significant piece in the jigsaw of this album that you just have to keep going back in for more o.I’ve played it several times on repeat already.
