Voodoo Glow Skulls are an underground third-wave ska band. Their music is a mixture of old-style ska, punk and metal. The band formed in 1988 in Riverside, California by brothers Frank, Eddie and Jorge Casillas and their longtime friend Jerry O'Neill. The Voodoo Glow Skulls practiced for two years in a sweaty back bedroom/practice space until they forged a taut unit that performed with demonic intensity and a demented sense of humor.

Released in both English and Spanish versions, Voodoo Glow Skulls' 1995 effort may have been one of the high points in popularity for the seven-member ska-punk outfit. Unlike some more laid-back performers in the genre, and coming from a time before the style was commercially successful, Voodoo Glow Skulls are a bit more heavy-handed on the punk part of the mix, resulting in consistently fast-paced and chugging song structures that occasionally erupt into triumphant horn breakdowns and chanted group vocals.

Voodoo Glow Skulls recorded their debut album Who Is, This Is? for Dr. Strange Records in 1993, selling 200,000 copies worldwide and gained the attention from Brett Gurewitz, owner of Epitaph Records. The band then signed to Epitaph Records and released four albums that collectively sold over 750,000 copies worldwide. The band began to tour worldwide with their first european tour in 1996 followed by Japan, Australia, Mexico and South America.
