Peter Kater is a German-born American composer, songwriter-singer and pianist who has several times been nominated for Grammy awards. He has spent the majority of his professional life living in Boulder, Colorado. He collaborated with R. Carlos Nakai in 1992 for the album Migration (released Silver Wave Records, January 1, 1992).

In 1977 when he was eighteen, Peter moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he spent thirteen years before moving to Virginia and later Los Angeles, building his own studio, and starting his own record label
