Album advance promo cassette direct from DGC. This cassette, which appears to be self-titled, is an advance version of their debut album "Space I'm I. Other Versions (5 of 9) View All. Cat.

The album included three singles: "Submarine Song", "She Blew Me Away" and "You Are Here". Brown left the band before the album was released. After a year of touring and the replacement of a stand-in bass player with Karl Shale, the band released their second album Fun? on Geffen Records in 1993. The album Sunday Morning Fever was released on Ultimate in the UK in 1997, and saw the band enjoy their biggest chart success with the single "Monday Morning" making it into the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. The record company went bankrupt and the band were left in limbo during the recording of their last album Death of a Minor TV Celebrity. The album did not do as well as their previous efforts, despite featuring the single "Feed It" which was one of the central songs on the soundtrack to the movie The Waterboy starring Adam Sandler.

Oxford's The Candy Skins, another middle of the road English band (in popularity terms), scored a minor hit with Stateside with "Submarine Song". Its trademark bassline should bring back memories to college radio listeners. This is a nice little CD that avoids sounding dated. if you're into the early 90's Brit-pop scene a la Stone Roses, Charlatan's, James, etc. surely you know the Candyskins. Space I'm In has several good singles on it "Submarine Song", "Freedom Bus" and "She Blew Me Away. Anyone who listed to "alternative" radio back in the day (when it was good and before the label "alternative") surely would have heard some of these songs. I picked it up back then and still listen to it today.

About The Candy Skins. Emerging from the same Oxford, England pop scene which also yielded Radiohead and Supergrass, the Candyskins were formed in 1989 by frontman Nick Cope, his guitarist brother Mark, lead guitarist Nick Burton, bassist Karl Shale and drummer John Halliday. Debuting with the UK hit single "Submarine Song," the group was soon signed by Geffen, which issued their LP The Space I'm In in 1990; Fun? followed in 1993, but the Candyskins' major label tenure was largely disappointing, and two years later they signed with the British label Ultimate.
