This article contains the discography of American singer Eartha Kitt. RCA Victor releases 1952 to 1959. 1952: Leonard Sillman's New Faces Of 1952 (Original Cast) (as cast member) (LOC1008; 12"). 1953: RCA Victor Presents Eartha Kitt (with Henri René & his Orchestra) (LPM-3062; 10"). 1954: Leonard Sillman presents Mrs. Patterson (Original Cast Recording) (as starring cast member). 1955: Down to Eartha (with Henri René & his Orchestra).

In her lifetime Eartha Kitt was one hell of a vivacious performer, as this live 1965 recording from The Plaza hotel in New York City attests. Accompanied by a small but tight jazz ensemble, Ms. Kitt foregoes her usual seductive stage banter for a more humorous set peppered with witty and poetic intros - but she still manages to let loose with some of that sultry vavoom that kept the cocktail generation on its toes. The sound quality is pristine.

Live at the Plaza captures Eartha Kitt's sultry stage presence and seductive phrasings at their very best. The songs on the album are also diverse and wonderful, from the bold "Sell Me!" to the sex kitten vamp "I Want to Be Evil" to the surprisingly great "Rumania Rumania. Some live albums are one time listens, but Live at the Plaza stands up to multiple visits. First released in 1965, a good CD version was introduced in 1987. Fans need to pick up this disc.

Eartha Kitt was one of the premier jazz cabaret singers of the 20th century. Kitt is in peak form on this live set with plenty of sexy phraseology, wit, and charm. Nina Simone had the same kind of flare with audiences as Kitt. The sound quality on this album is outstanding. Recorded live in 1965 at The Plaza, the musical director on this recording is David Saxon  . With vocals as rich and sultry as this, I find myself revisiting "Eartha Kitt in Person at the Plaza" regularly.
