Original Mirrors were a British new wave band formed in Liverpool in 1979. Featuring members of several earlier punk/new wave bands, they signed to Mercury Records and released two albums before splitting up in 1981, with members going on to play in The Lightning Seeds and Status Quo. The band was formed in 1979 by songwriters Ian Broudie (formerly of Big in Japan and Secrets) and Steve Allen (formerly of Deaf School).

Released in 1980, Original Mirrors features Broudie on guitar, but there's not even a trace of Broudie's incandescent new wave pop with Care and the Wild Swans. The first track, "Sharp Words," is lightweight neo-psychedelic rock that approximates the Teardrop Explodes' '60s feel, however, vocalist Steve Allen lacks range and personality.
