When the movie did win the Evening Standard award for Best Film of the Year, Radford used his acceptance speech at the nationally televised ceremony to denounce the Eurythmics involvement. The Eurythmics released a statement that they were unaware of the dispute, and would not have accepted the commission if they had known it was done against Radford's consent

Get this album or track at: 4:22. Unfortunately, most of the score never made into the final film. Instead, the pop band Eurythmics provided songs that were placed into the film. The fanfare from the film, an overly optimistic anthem entitled "Aria", is comprised of overlapping trumpets which climax into a soprano voice singing the praises of Oceania. Much of the score is comprised of soft horns, woodwinds, and a penny whistle - all of which lend a nostalgic air to the music.
