Morning Star is the seventh full-length album by Swedish metal band Entombed, and was released in September 13, 2001. The album is more experimental than previous efforts, and shows the band returning to a more traditional death metal sound overall, though without completely abandoning elements of death 'n' roll. The album also introduces a handful of straightforward, fast-paced death/thrash tracks, a first for the band at the time.

Morning Star carries off in ways far different than usual return to roots productions, for the most part; an ideal solution to the band’s slip into obscurity, and an explosion of ideas that just don’t fit together as well as it did in their heads. Of all people in this album, lead vocalist Petrov should’ve been the first to see where the band was making the slip. Rather, he seeps up all the creativity the band does manage to form, and overshadows it all with his reigning death n’ roll voice, going completely against the ideal terms of this album.

Time will tell, but Morning Star will hopefully be ranked with Slayer's Reign in Blood, Sepultura's Chaos . and Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power as some of the finest thrash metal ever made. Petrov really comes into his own on this album; his vicious roar has never sounded as clear and focused as it does here. And chief songwriters Uffe Cederlund and Jorgen Sandstrom cut away the excess fat and created some truly memorable riffs and lyrics.
