Description

Deerhunter's latest LP is easily one of their most immediate. It's not as loud as Microcastle's more abrasive points, but doesn't get nearly as quiet either. Instead, this album sounds more like a full, fleshed out version of what frontman Bradford Cox was shooting for on his last solo LP, Logos

All lyrics from Halcyon Digest album, popular Deerhunter songs with tracklist and information about album.

Halcyon Digest is the fifth studio album by American indie rock band Deerhunter. It was released September 28, 2010 to universal critical acclaim. It was the band's first album distributed exclusively by 4AD worldwide (previously 4AD only handled overseas distribution while Kranky handled it within the . ) The album was produced by both the band and Ben H. Allen, and was recorded at Chase Park Transduction studios in Athens, Georgia

Halcyon Digest is, to my mind, the best we’ve seen from Deerhunter, and a hint that their best is still to come. this may not be a perfect album but emotions take control with albums like this. It's kinda like with After Laughter/Paramore in general for anyone who knows me. I see the flaws but the attachment I have to the music lets me completely overlook them.

In the end, it’s that this album has no real direction, and for a band with a front man who never writes lyrics in advance and makes music so organically, five years seems like enough time to make an album both effortless and perfect. Halcyon Digest isn’t conflicted for its shifts in music or emotion, it’s delighted for it. At it’s most daunting, Halcyon Digest is still a pop album.

Halcyon Digest is Deerhunter’s fifth album. The album features the band’s trademark meshing of shoegaze and pop, with song lengths ranging from a quick two minutes to a complex seven-and-a-half. Released on September 28, 2010 to nearly universal acclaim, it cemented the band’s status as one of the most inventive groups of the 2000s. The Japanese version of this release included two bonus instrumental tracks, Rhythm and Colorscale. Halcyon Digest Q&A.

Whether those halcyon days were real or just idealized doesn't matter. Deerhunter unveiled their new album by asking fans to print out a vintage DIY-style poster, photocopy it, and tape it up all over town. In the last couple of weeks, band members have participated in all-night online chats with some of their most devoted fans.

Inspired by the flyer culture of punk and college rock bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s, Deerhunter introduced Halcyon Digest with an interactive Xerox art project in which fans photocopied an old-school flyer made by Bradford Cox, pasted it around their towns, photographed it and sent the results back to the band. Besides being a clever viral strategy to drum up interest for the album, it speaks to the way Deerhunter approaches how fleeting and important memories can be on these songs

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter (2010) Release date: 2010-09-28 Overall rank: 296th. Accolades: Top 10 albums of 2010 (7th). Top 50 albums of the 2010s (25th). Top 500 albums of all time (296th).

Deerhunter’s dark, dreamy indie rock reached its crest on their fifth album, Halcyon Digest. Marrying punk grit with the romantic lilt of doo-wop ballads and early '60s pop, the band created a kind of modern noir-seductive and mysterious but alluringly rough around the edges. Songs like Revival and Memory Boy ring out like a basement-dwelling version of The Byrds; Basement Scene is their La Bamba -a fascinating take on the past by one of the present’s most unusual indie rock bands. sincerely i didn't believe that a low fi grg band could be well married with the darktone of 4ad. but i didn't know enough about this band and their shoegaze way towards the stars. nice atmosphere, good balance, lovely tunes. bradford cox's not just another toxic reason: he emerges like a magister of the nu-millenium. great record, well done!
