Keith Poppin returned to the UK this summer for two triumphant sets with the Ruff Trade band at the 2018 One Love Festival, sharing the stage with other reggae legends including Johnny Osbourne, the Mighty Diamonds, Johnny Clarke, the Twinkle Brothers, Alborosie and more. His trip across the Atlantic also included some time with the legendary Saxon Sound System and a visit with Andrew Okocha and the kind folks at Peckings Records. Not one word can describe this statesman from the Foundation and his half-century of endurance in Jamaican music. This is the third interview with the humble artist for Reggae-Vibes and is necessary due to his limitless knowledge and vivid memories of the good old days of music making and its makers.
Now performing as 'Keith Poppin,' his bittersweet wail took him to number one again with the underground anthem 'Envious' in 1974, another number one song in Jamaica, and led to the album of the same name released in 1975. Keith continued his string of international hits, with the top five releases 'Why Make Believe' and 'Someday Girl' followed by 'Who Are You' which cracked the top ten in the UK in 1976 and appeared on the 1977 album 'Pop Inn' on the Burning Rockers label
