Complete your Karin Krog & John Surman collection. This is a first recorded collaboration of Karin Krog and her partner John Surman. It is a beautiful mixture of John Surman's lyrical, etherial sound and Krog's half-husky voice. Participation of a drummer Stu Martin, adds a vital rhythm to some of the tunes (in particular, New Spring ). One of the best pieces on this album, from my point of view, is Jonathan, which is recorded again in Such Winters Of Memory a few years later. Another strikingly strong piece is Empty Streets, in which there is an ensemble of Baritone Sax (overdubbed) plays fascinating music at closing.

Karin Krog (born May 15, 1937 in Oslo) is a celebrated Norwegian jazz vocalist. She started to sing at an early age and in 1955 she was hired by the pianist Kjell Karlsen to sing in his sextet. In 1962 she started her first group and that same year she become a student of the well-known Norwegian-American singer Anne Brown.
