Description

Byzantine return after a successful reunion album in 2013 to deliver an album that improves upon it. The band opts for some longer compositions this time around, leading to some of their longest songs in their history, but the time feels well used.

Album Layout and Design by Xack Paden. Track Name: To Release. There was a time when our bond rose above not long ago Blinded by the allure I was running lost, navigating the lies But I have learned from a life of mistakes to not look back at them And never sow the deadly seeds of doubt in my mind. The Devil wants to take me again. supported by 17 fans who also own To Release is to Resolve. Less sludge and more death metal, anchored in a progressive metal framework, with even more hilarious lyrics about slugs than ever before, what we have on Esoteric Malacology is Slugdge at the peak of their songwriting powers.

To Release/To Resolve are the last two tracks on the album and are actually one song. As a closer, clocking in at ten minutes plus, it’s a sprawling melodic affair with a captivating song structure that really brings home the culmination of all the growth this album embodies. Byzantine are truly one of metal’s most underappreciated treasures, and To Release Is To Resolve only adds to the evidence supporting that. To Release Is To Resolve will be released on April 7 via CEN/RED Distribution. You can check out the two singles released thus far over at Metal Sucks and Decibel. Now, Byzantine returns with it’s fifth studio album, To Release Is To Resolve, teaming up with PledgeMusic to give their fans the ultimate DIY experience. To Release Is To Resolve will most certainly solidify Byzantine as one of the most consistent and continual genre-bending heavy metal bands of the last two decades.

Byzantine have proven with "To Release is To Resolve" that they are still going strong. The album sees them creatively firing on all cylinders. In fact, the two new members sound like they have injected new passion and energy into the band. If you are a fan of classic sounding thrash with a conscience for modern ideals (which it seems to me is pretty hard to come by) you owe it to yourself to hear this. One complaint I have is the length of the record. It doesn't feel overly short given there is little to no filler but at 43 minutes I could have done with another track

Notes

Lyrics printed sheet.

"In 2013, after five years of silence, Byzantine released their self titled comeback album to overwhelming acclaim. Garnering multiple album of the year nods, it proved that the unsigned artist can hold their own against the big budget bands. Self released and financed through a successful Kickstarter campaign, Byzantine debuted as the #1 most added metal album at College Rock Radio and stayed in the Top 10 for 7 straight weeks. The album also debuted at #5 on iTunes top albums the week it was released, beating out new efforts by Five Finger Death Punch, Kill Switch Engage and Newsted. Now, Byzantine returns with it’s fifth studio album, To Release Is To Resolve, teaming up with PledgeMusic to give their fans the ultimate DIY experience. To Release Is To Resolve will most certainly solidify Byzantine as one of the most consistent and continual genre-bending heavy metal bands of the last two decades."
