Description

Supertramp's "Breakfast In America" was the biggest selling album in the world in 1979. On the album's release Supertramp embarked on a 10 month world tour which arrived in Paris at the end of November.

Paris is a live album by the English rock band Supertramp, released in 1980. It was recorded on Supertramp's Breakfast in America tour in Paris, France, with most of the tracks taken from a 29 November 1979 show at the Pavillon de Paris, a venue which was once a slaughterhouse. The album was originally going to be called Roadworks. Paris reached number 8 on the Billboard 200 in late 1980 and went Gold immediately, while the live version of "Dreamer" hit the US Top 20.

Paris ‎(2xLP, Album).

Paris" is a live album recorded when Supertramp were in full flight, and attracting enormously large audiences. The tracks are taken from the period covering "Crime of the century" through to "Breakfast in America", by far their most successful and creative phase. There was never much room in Supertramp's live act for improvisation or tomfoolery. Double live Supertramp album is in fact the collection of their greatest hits (to time). Every band's fan will have many songs he loves to hear, but is it enough for double live album be recorded? I can't say nothing wrong about this work, but at the same time there are not too much reasons for purchasing of this album.

Label A&M Records. Bob Siebenberg, Dougie Thomson, John Helliwell, Rick Davies, Roger Hodgson. Patrick O'Doherty, Roger Grose, Tam Smith, Ian Lloyd-Bisley, Chris Smyth, David Farmiloe, Mick Burk, Norman Hall, Patrick Ampe, Steve Dabbs, Van Anonson.

The success of the that latter album had an enormous pressure for the band, and during the tour, there began to develop some internal friction in the group. The fun of playing together started to diminish. Supertramp were part of the 70's progressive movement, but had, unlike their contemporaries, a sense of pop in their sound from the beginning, and also flirted with jazz and blues. Their compositions have many flowing and captivating shifting moods, featuring great piano play, strong vocals, sensitive electric guitar and seductive saxophone.
