Temple of Transparent Balls is the second album by Ed Handley, Andy Turner and Ken Downie, the first under the name The Black Dog, and was released on double vinyl, cassette and CD in 1993.

In some way a secret Black Dog album. Bytes and Spanners were known classics and regulary mentioned in the electronic world. But Temple of Transparent Balls was an underground release, released by an underground label. Originally titled as Temple Of Transparent Walls, but In the time of releasing the album, there were problems with GPR so, for some reason, Walls became Balls. A lot of quality stuff on it, but like the Parallel album difficult to get in your collection.

The albums Temple of Transparent Balls (GPR) and Spanners (Warp) followed. The music was often produced under a number of different names, such as Close Up Over, Xeper, Atypic, . Balil and the Discordian Popes. The group did numerous remixes, notably for Björk, with whom it collaborated on "'Sweet Intuition" and "Charlene". In 1995, Handley and Turner left to focus on Plaid but Downie continued working as The Black Dog on his own for a while, releasing the solo album Music for Adverts (and Short Films)

Temple of Transparent Balls' was the first album released by The Black Dog on the avant-garde, forward-thinking GPR label in 1993, two years before their signing with Warp Records. At this time the album was a blueprint for the emerging UK techno scene and even to this day sounds as futuristic as ever. Lost in time, the album has now been refreshed and given a new lease of life in the digital age, completely remastered, playing to new ears, finding new fans, and at the same time carrying nostalgia for those already familiar with The Black Dog sound
