Thrust is a jazz-funk album by Herbie Hancock, released in September 6, 1974 on Columbia Records. It served as a follow-up to Hancock's album Head Hunters (1973), and achieved similar commercial success, as the album reached as high as number 13 on the Billboard 200 listing. The lineup for Thrust is the same as on Head Hunters, except that Mike Clark replaced Harvey Mason on drums. This is Hancock's fourteenth album overall.

Parade is the eighth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the fourth and final album to feature The Revolution as his backing band. It also was the soundtrack album to the 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon, directed by and starring Prince. It was released on March 31, 1986 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros.

Pop music is quite simply short for popular and so it stands to reason that the 20 best pop albums are generally the most popular albums. There was a time when jazz was pop, rock has sometimes been pop, rap has been po. ut we all know what pop is, rather than some sub-genre of the musical spectrum. We’ve come up with the 20 best pop albums eve. rom across the last 60 years, starting with Frank and Elvis who released two cast iron classics in 1956. 1982, like 1971 was a standout year with Michael Jackson’s Thriller becoming the bestselling album of all time. Prince’s 1999 may not have sold as many copies, but it is full of great songs. ABC may not make everyone’s list but it is what a pop album is all about, songs. By the end of the decade Madonna’s Like a Prayer was proving that she could continue to turn out albums full of classy songs.

But actually, I loved pop videos. Thought they were a breath of fresh air and a great cultural moment. And these characters, especially when you read the book, they are pop culture. It’s part of the architecture of their lives, like it is for so many of us. The whole archaic notion of highbrow/lowbrow. We used one track from that album and a new track that they put out as an unsuccessful single, Born Slippy, which I found in an HMV store  . But at the time, it didn’t feel like it. I remember Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn coming in to watch a rough cut of the film. Damon wasn’t sure about it; he was worried about the drugs side of it.

Monterey Pop, held June 16 to 18, 1967, at the fairgrounds in Monterey, Calif. down the coast from San Francisco, was pivotal in rock’s evolution as a force in the entertainment business and the culture at large. No one knew the deep implications of Monterey until it occurred and some time had passed. In many ways, the original Monterey Pop is a remnant of an earlier age in the music business that cannot be replicated, starting with its lineup. Rock in 1967 was still young, with its artistic and commercial peaks still on the horizon. The Beatles, who by this point had quit touring, sent a drawing for the festival program that used the name of their brand-new album: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Even to this day, when you look at that lineup, it’s still unattainable, said Paul Tollett.
