Paris au Printemps is a live album recorded by Public Image Ltd (given as 'Image Publique . on the cover) in 1980 on two consecutive dates in January in Paris, and released in November the same year. The title of the album is French for 'Paris in the Spring', with French names also given to the band itself and songs in the track listing

Paris au Printemps Supposedly let out of the pen to head a bootleg off at the specialty shops, this live album has a suitably cynical look, but mostly it just sharpens the drums and guitar of songs from 1978's flat and hasty First Issue, "Public Image" unfortunately not among them. It cuts deepest on the previously unrecorded (I think) "Psalmodie," which could almost make you think John Lydon liked rock and roll.

Printemps (pronounced ; meaning "spring" in French) is a French department store chain (French: grand magasin, literally "big store"). Printemps was founded in 1865 by Jules Jaluzot and Jean-Alfred Duclos. The original store was designed by noted architects Jules and Paul Sédille and opened at the corner of Le Havre and Boulevard Haussmann in Paris, France, on 3 November 1865.

Released primarily to cut down on bootlegs of the same concerts from early 1980, Paris au Printemps catches Public Image Limited at the peak of the band's career. While the album was criticized at the time for being nothing more than a live album and thus not adhering to the group's avant-garde rhetoric, the music more than makes up for any breakdown in the band's ideology. Jah Wobble issues forth pseudo-reggae liquid basslines while John Lydon moans and whelps over heavy, almost free-form guitar from Keith Levene. Peak level 10. % Extraction speed .
