The new King's X album XV will be released May 20th, 2008 on InsideOut Music. King's X was ranked on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The group released its first album as King's X, entitled Out of the Silent Planet, in 1988. Despite being hailed by music critics, the album did not fare well commercially, peaking at on the Billboard album charts. The songs "King" and "Shot of Love" were released as singles but failed to garner much attention. In 1989, the band released Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. What many fans consider to be their landmark album and most creative period, it fared only slightly better from a commercial.

This album is not a traditional metal album by any stretch of the imagination, but is a great addition for any music fan in the rock and metal scene. Compact songs are widely covered on this album. With their dense and transparent sound they're one of the strongest acts from their time, and that's exactly what they're showing on this album. The American rock band King's X combining elements of progressive metal, funk and soul in their versatile sound.

King's X mirrors this change in popular sensibilities with its self-titled fourth album. However, King's X never sacrifice their melodic sensibilities or ethereal harmonies and turn in a record that is nearly as good as their 1989 classic, "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska"

Why King's X never became a hugely successful and well-known hard rock outfit will forever remain a mystery, especially after listening to the totally original and memorable compositions that comprise their 1997 Best of King's X compilation. An intoxicating blend of Beatlesque vocal harmonies, introspective lyrics, and genre-skipping music gained the band a solid cult following since its first release in 1988, but the group never truly broke through to mainstream success.
