The Skatalites first reunion happened in the studio, during 1974 sessions for bass player Lloyd Brevett's solo album. After laying down hand percussion tracks at Lee Perry's studio, Brevett was joined by McCook, Alphonso, Sterling, Knibb and Mittoo. Ernest Ranglin played guitar, with Oswald Brooks on trumpet. McCook, Drummond, Moore and Sterling were all students at the famed Alpha Boys School in Kingston. In August 1965 The Skatalites played their last show after Don Drummond's cofinement to Bellvue for the death of his girlfriend, Margarita. The break-up results in the formation of two studio bands, Rolando Alphonso & The Studio One Orchestra and Tommy McCook & The Supersonics. The band reformed in 1983 and is still active nowadays, despite the death of many original members.
