Breathe Easy is an album by vibraphonist Cal Tjader which was recorded in 1977 and released on the Galaxy label in the following year. The interpretations overall are relaxed, tasteful and swinging but somewhat uneventful and without any real surprises".
Cal Tjader does solo entensively but he is part of the whole here rather than the whole show. The disc is a subdued piece of music that results from Cals's excellent vibe work but it has moments of fiery uptempo latin jazz sounds. This is especially evident in the title track "Huracan"(Hurricane) where the vibraphones meet the brass for some interesting interplay as the percussion keeps a steady latin groove. Cal Tjader is today a somewhat underapreciatted musician and if you listen to this recording you will realize he should not be underestimated or discounted in the pantheon of the greats. This is a first class latin jazz jam session.

Cal Tjader rendition of The Association 1967 big hit opens in an ideal way with Richard Davis stripped bass before the song goes latin with Ray Barretto’s conga, Cal Tjader vibraphone and Herbie Hancock piano. Hip Vibrations is an atypic album in the Cal Tjader 60′s discography for Verve in that it focuses on straight Jazz, with very nice arrangements by Benny Golson and Bobby Bryant. You even find the pair Ron Carter - Herbie Hancock featured on some tunes. This one is an easy listening take on the verge on being cheesy of the famous Canto de Ossanha penned by Vinicius de Moraes and Baden Powell.
