Five Leaves Left is the debut studio album by English folk musician Nick Drake. Recorded between 1968 and 1969, it was released in 1969 by record label Island. Five Leaves Left was recorded between July 1968 and June 1969 at Sound Techniques in London, England. It begins with an absolute humdinger - the entirely orchestral "Introduction" by Nick Drake - the opening track on Side 1 of his second studio album "Bryter Layter" from 1970. Surely one of Kirby's most sublime moments – the gorgeous mood it creates is cleverly followed by seven-minutes of a Folk-Rock song that few of us know - "Forest And The Shore" by Keith Christmas. The album's title When The Day Is Done references Nick Drake and many of Nick's fans will be familiar with the orchestrations Robert Kirby provided for a lot of his songs – however, album compiler Bob Stanley has dug a little deeper in the music vaults and found some other minor classics from the British folk scene of the nineteen-seventies, which.
