Andy Stott’s exploration of four on the floor dub continues with this excellent E. Fear of Heights’ is the slower of the two tracks. Melancholy, spidery and reverbed stabs sprinkled over a simple beat kicks things off before precision hi hats and the occasional pop work their way in. Towards the middle the bass and drums take over but it’s hardly pumping, instead maintaining a pleasurably glacial cool.

Andy Stott is a Manchester-based producer of dub and techno music who has released five albums with the Modern Love label. His debut album was Merciless in 2006, and was followed by Unknown Exception (2008) and Luxury Problems in 2012. Passed Me By (2011) marked a significant change in Stott's sound; it has none of the elements of his previous dub techno release, opting for a much more bass-heavy sound a la Sunn O))) and Demdike Stare.
