Artist Album Song Title. Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever Album Cover Art. Explosions in the Sky.
Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever is the second album recorded by post-rock band Explosions in the Sky, released on September 4, 2001. It is their first album released on the Temporary Residence label. The band garnered a small amount of media attention as the liner notes of this album contained a picture of an airplane and the text "This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow"
The members of Explosions in the Sky may just be four soft-spoken guys from Texas, but on Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever they simply tear everything apart. The album ends with the grand, 12-minute-long "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept," a song that moves from Sonic Youth to Joy Division to Explosions in the Sky. Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever is nothing short of awe-inspiring and one of the best records of 2001.
Studio album by Explosions in the Sky. Released. Members of the band told Stylus that they had the artwork and idea for the liner notes for over a year before the attacks on the World Trade Center. The track "Have You Passed Through This Night?" is one of the few Explosions in the Sky songs to contain any words: a sample of the narration from the film The Thin Red Line. The track "The Moon Is Down" was based on The Moon Is Down by author John Steinbeck

Explosions in the Sky let their music do the talking, and the message comes across loud and clear, soft and subtly, with a tightly focused passion unheard of from a band that uses only guitar, bass, and drums to communicate. The fireworks start right off with "Greet Death," a blinding flash of glorious guitar squall and crashing cymbals that, at the three-minute mark, fades into the night, replaced by a faint, contemplative melodic residue. These shards deliberately coalesce into an arresting whole, as bright and hopeful as the sunrise
Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever (my god, what a mouthful), was actually released on September 4, 2001, a full week before the 9/11 attacks. In addition, the album art had been planned by the band for over a year before the release. But it is an amazing coincidence how this album was born. MrUnderstanding18 (5) Explosions In The Sky's second full-length just shows what they are capable of, with stunning result. To me, those first few tracks are second to none. AOASIME is close behind this, but, for me, this is a much more focused effort.
