Walking on the Moon" is a song by English reggae rock band The Police, released as the second single from their second studio album, Reggatta de Blanc (1979). The song was written by the band's lead vocalist and bassist Sting. It went on to become the band's second No. 1 hit in the UK. Sting said that he wrote the song when he was drunk one night after a concert in Munich. That following morning, he remembered the song and wrote it down.

Roosa remained in orbit while the other two landed on the moon. Mitchell died at 85, in Florida, in early 2016. After NASA, Mitchell devoted his life to exploring the mind, physics and unexplained phenomena such as psychics and aliens. Shepard died in 1988. Before walking on the moon, Shepard became the first American in space with a suborbital flight in 1961. He is only one of three astronauts who have flown both earth orbital and lunar Apollo missions.

NASA's Apollo space program stretched from 1961 to 1972, culminating in a dozen men walking on the moon. Gene Cernan, who died Jan. 16, 2016, was the 11th man to set foot on the moon - but the last to leave the lunar surface at the end of his third and final moonwalk with Harrison Jack Schmitt. Walking on the Moon is track six on 1979’s Reggatta de Blanc and is the second single for the group in the UK. It reached in Australia and did not place in the US charts. One of the more heavily reggae-influenced tracks, Sting sings about the weightlessness one feels after they fall in love. That was all. In the cool light of morning I remembered what had happened and I wrote the riff down. But ‘Walking round the room’ was a stupid title so I thought of something even more stupid which was ‘Walking on the moon. - From the 1981 book, The Police l'historia bandidoz by Hugh Fielder and Phil Sutcliffe. Ian Wright discovered this rare track and owns the only known copy that i know of (if he haven´t sold it). Who the two guys that talks on the record is and the history of it is just as scarce as the record itself.

This is Hip-Hop avant-la-lettre. A song criticising the US government for the millions of $ spent on the moon landing while people are starving. "It don't make no sense to go up there to get some rocks. They crazy!" Excellent.
