Soldier is the fourth studio album by American rock singer Iggy Pop. It was released in February 1980 by record label Arista. For the album Iggy collaborated with ex-Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock. Ex-member of The Stooges James Williamson was originally hired to produce the album, but a conflict between Williamson and David Bowie (who was assisting as a friend of Pop) over recording techniques led to Williamson walking out on the project.

Al Campbell (born 31 August 1954) is a Jamaican reggae singer active since the late 1960s. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Campbell's singing career began in church, where his father was a preacher, and Al would sing to raise funds. Al Campbell is a keyboard player. He was in the 1980s band Kid Lightning. In 1981 Kid Lightning released an album with Gerard McMahon of "Cry Little Sister" fame. Prior to Kid Lightning, Campbell undertook work as a session musician. In 1983, Campbell assisted producer Arthur "Artie" Ripp by playing keyboards on several tracks of a remix of Billy Joel's Cold Spring Harbor album.
