Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2 - Vladimir Ashkenazy. Audio CD. Johannes Brahms. Brahms's No. 2 Piano Concerto is for decades my favourite piano concerto. The Berlin Philharmonic, however, is more sonorous and deep, and the overall result is a piece of more grandeur and maturity. 1. Johannes Brahms; Concertgebouw Orchestra, Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Ashkenazy. Brahms wrote a number of major works for orchestra, including two serenades, four symphonies, two piano concertos, a Violin Concerto, a Double Concerto for violin and cello, and a pair of orchestral overtures, the Academic Festival Overture and the Tragic Overture.
