The Mamas & the Papas is the self-titled second studio album by the American folk rock vocal group The Mamas & the Papas, released in 1966. The album peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 album chart and number 24 in the UK. The lead off single, "I Saw Her Again", reached number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 11 in the UK Singles Chart

This album probably has everything you will ever need from the Mamas & the Papas. I for one am not even aware of any of their music that isn't on this album although there are plenty of their songs that didn't hit the charts. If you are a hardcore fan you will want the five individual albums but for the average person, this is all you will need. Many of these songs were absolute chart busters and they are indeed great pop songs. Album booklet contains small print history of band, which is interesting, but no lyrics; you have to use the internet for that. Not sure why album booklets don't seem to contain so many lyrics anymore?). The photo's shown are good. The music takes you back to the era, and contains harmonies that I only heard in church choirs at the time, when this music was making it into the churches (in Europe). In particular the higher voice stands out.
