Wicked Nature is the sixth studio album by Australian alternative rock band The Vines. It was released on 2 September 2014. The double album is the band's first release under their own label Wicked Nature Music. The release marks a few milestones for The Vines, with frontman Craig Nicholls taking on the role of producer for the first time, as well as introducing a completely new rhythm section with drummer Lachlan West and bassist Tim John.

The Vines have been a mercurial band since they arrived in 2002. Their talent took hold when the debut album 'Highly Evolved' launched them as one of rock music's new saviours. It was a height though that the volatile band was never going to maintain for long. At some point the tales took over the talent and became their namesake camouflage. Out of sight the band might have been, but not out of the studio.

The Vines - 'Wicked Nature'. Did someone mention a grunge revival? This sounds like a job for Craig Nicholls! Though The Vines were a good 10 years too early trying to be the new Nirva. For all its stylistic solidity – despite featuring an entirely different line-up, bar Nicholls – this could easily be a lost Vines album from 2003. Wicked Nature’ is a portrait of progression: album one – rich, meaty – is Nicholls’ first spot in the producer’s chair alongside You Am I’s Paul McKercher. By the (weaker) album two, he’s in full control and favouring a sparse, more hollow timbre that doesn’t help fend off the inevitable onset of soundalike grunge fatigue by the time you get to ‘Darkest Shadow’.
