Parachutes is the debut studio album by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on 10 July 2000 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom. The album was produced by the band and British record producer Ken Nelson, except for one track, "High Speed", which was produced by Chris Allison. Parachutes has spawned the hit singles "Shiver", "Yellow", "Trouble", and "Don't Panic".
Parachutes is ultimately a promising debut for Coldplay, if by "promising," I mean, "promising them a windfall of cash and international popularity. If nothing else, it's harmless and pretty. Unfortunately, it's nothing else.

In the eerie, liquid guitars and chiming, emotional wrangles of Shiver and the haunted late-night paranoia of Spies shine the songwriting talents that propelled Coldplay into stadiums.
