Ryukyu Underground is Keith Gordon and Jon Taylor. Strangely, on their first meeting both told each other of a vision they each had individually had, to create a musical project which incorporated elements of the Okinawan sound into contemporary electronic and dance music. They signed to Tokyo based Respect Records and released their debut CD in the Spring of 2002. In the following years they have released 3 more studio albums and a remix album with remixes of their tracks by such artists as Karsh Kale, Junkie XL, Da Lata and Kid Loco. They also contributed a track to the ‘Rough Guide to Okinawa compilation CD released through World Music Network and have appeared on three Buddha Bar compilations They have remixed tracks for Miyazawa, Karsh Kale, Yuri Chika and Uru amongst others

Ryukyu Underground (琉球アンダーグラウンド Ryūkyū Andāguraundo) is an electronic music duo, consisting of Keith Gordon and Jon Taylor, whose music is heavily based on and inspired by traditional Okinawan folk music. The duo's music blends Okinawan folk songs with Western dance music and dub, and they often collaborate with native Okinawan singers and other musicians.

Ryukyu Underground is a collection of ten dance tracks, produced by figures fluent in both the evocative clubbers' trance pumping out of Europe and Asia, and traditional forms of music from Japan's Okinawa and other islands in the Ryukyu chain. Production head Keith Gordon certainly doesn't limit his palette, though, and he drafts suitable forms - from India and Afro-beat - to complement the styles on display
