The performance takes the form of a lesson in the history of literature that departs from a questioning of school dogma, in particular the text-book interpretation of the earliest known text in Italian ( Rosa fresca e aulentissima ), in which the text’s blatant – and scurrilous – allusion to the feminine genitalia is altogether censored.
